Connecting Prague’s Tourism Community Since 1995

Skål International Prague, Club No. 626, was founded on 18 October 1995. It was the first Skål club established in the former communist countries of Central Europe.

The club brings together professionals from across tourism, hospitality, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, tour operations, destination management, events and related industries.

Members meet regularly for professional and social gatherings, including monthly lunches, a summer gathering and a Christmas dinner. These meetings provide opportunities to exchange experience, develop trusted relationships and strengthen Prague’s tourism community.

What Does Skål International Do?

Skål International brings tourism professionals together through a rare mix of business, friendship, and personal connection.

Guided by the motto “Doing Business Among Friends,” Skål creates a space where industry leaders and professionals can meet face to face, build trust, share experience, and open doors to new opportunities.

Our Story

Skål International began with a journey, a shared experience, and a group of tourism professionals who discovered the value of friendship across borders.

  • 1932 – The First Connection

    Flight Flight

    A group of Parisian travel agents was invited by several transport companies to attend the presentation of a new aircraft for the Amsterdam–Copenhagen–Malmö route. What began as a professional trip soon became something more: a connection between people working in the same industry, brought together by travel, conversation, and mutual respect.

  • Inspired by this experience, Jules Mohr, Florimond Volckaert, Hugo Krafft, Pierre Soulié, and Georges Ithier helped establish the first Skål Club in Paris in December 1932.

    The idea quickly gained momentum. Tourism professionals in other cities saw the same opportunity: to create a space where people from the travel and transport industries could meet, exchange ideas, build trust, and develop business through genuine friendship.

  • By early 1934, Skål had grown to 12 clubs in five countries. That same year, the vision became international. On 28 April 1934, the Association Internationale des Skål Clubs was officially founded at the Hotel Scribe in Paris, bringing together representatives from 11 clubs under the leadership of Florimond Volckaert.
